Johne's guru leads training courses for vets
"CPD training days a must for UK vets looking to tackle Johne's on farm"
National Milk Laboratories (NML) with support from diagnostic test specialists IDEXX is holding two one day courses in Preston on November 20 and in Bristol on November 21.
The CPD event is designed to give vets the opportunity to learn more about testing methods and how international experiences of Johne's disease can help shape on farm control programmes. To this end, Michael Collins from the University of Wisconsin is the keynote speaker. Professor Collins is an internationally recognised expert on Johne's disease. He is a challenging speaker with a true passion for controlling Johne's disease globally.
"We will discuss how to take best advantage of the available testing options, new tests in the pipeline, the evidence to support Johne's as a public health risk and how best to motivate producers to control the disease," says NML vet Karen Bond.
"We will also update participants on progress to control the disease through the new national control plan and on the analysis of Johne's disease data in relation to production in UK herds. This will highlight the costs of the disease."
